I have already read in some other questions on how we can continue using email server from godaddy (my domain is on godaddy) while using the digital ocean to host my web application.
I have tried directing the domain name to digital ocean by changing the A records to the ip address of my droplet. but when i do that my emails do not work.
The emails were setup in cpanel godaddy and i want it to remain there while i use DO hosting.
Can anyone tell me which records to change so that my configuration starts working? All help would be greatly appreciated. thanks. Currently my godaddy details look something like this.
Type Name Value TTL A @ (ipaddress of droplet) 10800 seconds CNAME mail @ 1 Hour CNAME webdisk @ 10800 seconds CNAME webdisk.admin @ 10800 seconds CNAME webmail @ 10800 seconds CNAME whm @ 10800 seconds CNAME www @ 10800 seconds CNAME www.admin @ 10800 seconds CNAME _domainconnect _domainconnect.gd.domaincontrol.com 1 Hour MX @ mail.lumasonic-goa.com (Priority: 0) 1 Hour NS @ ns39.domaincontrol.com 1 Hour NS @ ns40.domaincontrol.com 1 Hour

Hi @techseeker,
It seems you’ve created a mail CNAME record pointing to your root domain. Which in terms means as soon as you change your root A record, everything else will use that.
To fix this, change your MX record from mail.lumasonic-goa.com to point to your GoDaddy Hosting’s server name and then change your A record to point to your Droplet with DigitalOcean.
