How to rename Kubernetes Clusters and Node Pools

Posted on April 3, 2019

I made a Kubernetes cluster and allowed the system to give it a name. The name it was given is very long and I would like to change it to something more appropriate. How can I go about this? I am not able to find this information on Kubernetes.io or any other site. I would also like to rename my node pools, but I can’t find that either.

Thank you!

Hi there,

When going to a clusters page you can click on the cluster name to present you with an editable text field.

There is no way at the moment to rename node pools but doe to the ephemeral nature of how nodes should be handled I would recommend simply adding a nodepool of the name you want and then removing the old node pool.
