How to restore using ghost.db

Posted on May 11, 2017

Hey all!

Trying to get my Ghost blog back up online after some random crash but am having some trouble here. I’ve got a full backup of it (both here on DO as a droplet snapshot AND backup, as well as everything from /ghost/content/), but restoring the droplet didn’t fully work - I’ve got the blog up and running but none of my old content is there, I had to set up a new Ghost user and everything :S

Which seems weird since everything IS intact, content wise. The blog’s theme and cover image are still there, though only the theme has actually been recognized and recovered, and my ghost.db still has all my blog updates for the past 4 years.

So, how can I get Ghost to read/import the ghost.db and get my content back??

Thanks!

When you have a snapshot in DigitalOcean and you restore that snapshot, then it restores the entire server (meaning everything) to the exact state of the droplet from whenever the snapshot was taken.
