How to use OpenVPN on Server

January 31, 2015 847 views

I want to use OpenVPN on my Server. It should be client and all traffic should be tunneled through the VPN (Privateinternetaccess) .

SSH should of course not be through the VPN Network but stay as default so that I can still access the server.

How can I set this up on my Server?

OpenVPN is a full-featured open source Secure Socket Layer (SSL) VPN solution that accommodates a wide range of configurations. In this tutorial, we'll set up an OpenVPN server on a Droplet and then configure access to it from Windows, OS X, iOS and Android. This tutorial will keep the installation and configuration steps as simple as possible for these setups.
  • Setting up a OpenVPN Server is not the problem. Id like to run a client on server.

If I SSH onto it though I guess that the output from the server gets routed though tun0 of the VPN and not eth0 and back to me.

So I am essentially blocking myself out when I establish the VPN connection.
