Initial Server Setup

I just created a new droplet with a public key, but when I tried to ssh to the server, I get public key permission error.
The server I am trying to get into is: 138.68.8.16

Thank you in advance!

Hello, @voltrue2

I would recommend you to check this two articles as they should help you to sort this out:

https://www.digitalocean.com/docs/droplets/how-to/add-ssh-keys/

Let me know if you have any questions.

SSH keys provide a more secure way of logging into a virtual private server with SSH than using a password alone. With SSH keys, users can log into a server without a password. This tutorial explains how to generate, use, and upload an SSH Key Pair.

Hi @voltrue2,

It’s possible the key is not correct anymore or something is missing.

I’ll recommend you to take the key from the following file

cat ~/.ssh/id_pub.rsa

And put the contents on your droplet in the following place manually

vi ~/.ssh/authorized_keys

Once you have, you should be able to login without a problem.
