"Internal Server Error" on my Woocommerce Wordpress website

Hello everyone. I own a wordpress website that has a Woocommerce store in it and every time a client of mine tries to subscribe they get a message on the checkout page saying “Internal Server Error.” I’ve spoken with some developers and they said that since my website is hosted with you guys, that you guys would be the best one to help me out with this problem and also that Digital Ocean’s customer support is one of the best. I really don’t understand absolutely anything about coding, coding terminology, or anything remotely close to that for that matter. Also my website was transferred to Digital Ocean just a few days ago. So I really need baby steps. Thank you all so very much in advance.

To further troubleshoot the error you are getting, you would need to see the error itself. The best way to do this is to login to the droplet and do the following:

  1. Run the commands (leave the last one running in the terminal): tail -f /var/log/apache2/{error,access}.log
  2. Reload the page showing the error
  3. Go back to your SSH session, and stop the tail command using Ctrl+C

The error it shows on your terminal will be the one that needs fixing.

Based on your description, it most likely an issue with the PHP sessions being stored or accessed. I would recommend storing the PHP sessions in /tmp so they can be read and written easily by the Web Server.
