Hello,

What you could do is transfer a Snapshot of your Droplet from one account to another.

You could take a look at the official documentation on how to transfer a snapshot to a different user or team:

https://www.digitalocean.com/docs/images/snapshots/how-to/change-owners/

Hope that this helps! Regards, Bobby

Hello, Thanks for reaching out to DigitalOcean!

Yes, you can transfer the Snapshot to another accounts, but not Backups. You will need to convert the Backup into Snapshot first and then you can transfer this.

I’d be happy to explain how you can transfer Snapshots between accounts,

It’s very easy to do so from the Cloud Control Panel. As a reminder, we’re not able to directly transfer droplets, only snapshots. Here is a list of steps you’d need to take to accomplish the transfer:

  1. Navigate to the images page (https://cloud.digitalocean.com/images) on the control panel, and locate the snapshot you would like to transfer.
  2. Select the icon called Transfer Snapshot, choose a user or a team to move it to. Make sure to double check the recipient’s email address!
  3. Click the Transfer Snapshot button. On the recipient’s side, they will see a notification on their images page (https://cloud.digitalocean.com/images) that they have a Pending Snapshot Transfer Request.

From there, they can either accept or deny the transfer. If your recipient does not receive the transfer request, please double check the email address that you’ve sent it to.

If you find a mistake, just go ahead and cancel the request and reinitiate the transfer to the correct email address. If you would like to see a visual, here’s a link to our blog post on the topic:
