Hi,
Excuse any dumb questions please I’m a developer but know very little about server admin/ infra. Looking to move a site that has outgrown shared hosting onto a VPS.
I’m a bit confused at the terminology “cloud” being used here as from what I can tell this is VPS using hardware visualization on a server in a single location, rather than replicating/caching content to multiple locations. Is that correct?
How easy is it to spin up a linux server and get a MySQL server and a Cpanel on there. Plus, how much of this do I have to do myself, i.e. what packages/libraries will be pre-installed?
In terms of support is it all community based or if anything goes wrong am I able to get hold of someone from DigitalOcean on live chat 24/7 or some other way?
Thanks

<b>“I’m a bit confused at the terminology “cloud” being used here…”</b><br/><br/>According to Wikipedia:<blockquote><b>Cloud computing</b> is a colloquial expression used to describe a variety of different types of computing concepts that involve a large number of computers that are connected through a real-time communication network (typically the Internet). Cloud computing is a jargon term without a commonly accepted non-ambiguous scientific or technical definition.</blockquote>I would say that DigitalOcean fits that definition.<br/><br/><b>How easy is it to…"</b><br/><ol><li><b>“spin up a linux server”</b> – very easy!</li><li><b>“and get a MySQL server”</b> – even easier!</li><li><b>“and a Cpanel on there”</b> – not difficult.</li></ol><br/><b>“In terms of support is it all community based …?”</b><br/>No.<br/><br/><b>“or if anything goes wrong am I able to get hold of someone from DigitalOcean on live chat 24/7 or some other way?”</b><br/>Yes, by submitting a Support Ticket and/or via live chat @ http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=digitalocean&uio=d4
