openvpn not routing through droplet

Posted September 18, 2015 2.5k views

Hi all,

I followed this tutorial:

now I’m stuck with this error when connecting from my client (Linux)
“Fri Sep 18 19:11:04 2015 us=643248 /sbin/ip route add IPOFMYDROPLET/32 via CONNECTINGIP
RTNETLINK answers: File exists”

and every connection drops, web , ssh, anything.

I guess I have an issue in routing, due to this error and to this route -n output.

Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface UG 0 0 0 tun0 XXXX UG 1024 0 0 wlan0
XXXX U 0 0 0 wlan0
XXXX XXXX UGH 10 0 0 wlan0
DROPLET_IP XXXX UGH 0 0 0 wlan0 UG 0 0 0 tun0 U 1000 0 0 wlan0 UGH 0 0 0 tun0 UH 0 0 0 tun0

any idea?

What I usually do is to use the OpenVPN image from the Marketplace here:

It works out of the box and is really quick to setup.
