I need to host a cluster of around 2-3 Cassandra DB nodes along with an app server running Tomcat. I like DO but my worries are as follows:
The release version of KVM, at least as of a few months ago, didn’t support TRIM on SSD; that, plus the fact that I don’t know how others will use SSDs or if their file systems will keep the SSDs healthy, means that SSD performance on KVM is going to be highly unpredictable. I have not yet tested digital ocean, but I did test several other KVM+SSD shared-tenant hosting providers aggressively for Cassandra a couple months ago & they all failed badly.

I would say it’s not something you need to worry about. <br> <br>As they use Hardware Raid card’s these will do the work of Trim and file management of the SSD, KVM will just see the storage that is presented by the Hardware Card’s. <br> <br>However for your particular software for $5 for a month trial it’s worth seeing how it performs.
