i just now installed phpmyadmin using the tutorial provided by digital ocean to a folder /var/www/html/nothingtoseehere/index.php when i go to this url eg http://myip/nothingtoseehere/ the login page opens up but as soon as i enter the credentials the page redirects to root of the url eg http://myip/index.php which doesnt exist there therefore says 404 i am fed up of this issue i searched a lot and didnt found a solution btw i am on ubutu 16.04.6 LTS

Can you please show us your Nginx configuration file as well as the output of the following file /etc/phpmyadmin/conf.d/pma_secure.php
It seems like your Nginx configuration file contains some redirection rules which kick when you access http://myip/index.php. Having said that, I can’t pinpoint the issue unless I know what has been written in the config file.
