Pre purchase question regarding MYSQL

Posted on February 6, 2015

Hi, I’ve mostly used shared hosting and the other day tried a VPS hosting service for the first time which is DreamsHost. Originally I was gonna go with digital ocean since I read about it a year ago or so. But I was not able to remember that it was called digital ocean so I went with DreamHost. I’m not satisfied with dream host since they use traditional VPS hosting which is slowing down my site performance. The only good thing I like about it is the options to create MYSQL databases already under the control panel.

So my question is if I were to go with digital ocean is there anyway to create mysql databases via the control panel? I’m not really to savvy with the back end of hosting so If its like all out of scratch then that would be a deal breaker for me.

There is no control panel pre-installed on the Digital Ocean VMs. You would need to install one yourself, or work with the command line interface.

DigitalOcean is an unmanaged Cloud provider. you got to handle your problems. you can get help from the community. usually the support will guide you go in right way.

You may use phpmyadmin as a mysql control panel. if you need a control panel for everything, may be if you are already familiar with cpanel then you may buy a license and install on your own.

Any how for installing those control panels you have to use SSH …

I am wondering why you tagged this question with NoSQL! ? !.

No, but other free service like https://serverpilot.io can offer you a control panel to manage completely your Droplet here at DO.

So go a give them a try.
