Problem with accented characters stripped from text editor when saving

Posted on May 11, 2013

I have moved a few sites from another host to my droplet and have a problem with the text editor.

All text is stripped past any accented character when I save the article or the page. It happens in html or in wysiwyg view, in Wordpress or Joomla, even on a fresh install of WP or Joomla.

Seems like a server configuration. Has anybody a clue, didn’t find a solution in two days…

CentOS 6.3 x64 PHP 5.4.14 MySQL 5.5.30-cII utf8_general_ci Apache/2.2.24 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.24 OpenSSL/1.0.0-fips mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635

I’m glad to hear that! :]

Do you have your MySQL tables set to utf8? It should be fix accented characters.

Yes, there are set to utf8. <br> <br>The problem is now solved, it came from a faulty mbstring configuration.
