Reverse IP Domain Check Weirdness

Posted on November 29, 2014

Hi everyone,

I’m a nube at all of this, but I’m a bit mystified about how this could possibly be happening. I did a reverse IP Domain Check at YouGetSignal.com and discovered an alarming list of 4 websites that should have absolutely nothing to do with my IP address.

My droplet has two two virtual hosts, bringLove.org and ChristianQuestion.org which should both obviously lead to the same IP (104.236.182.241). But these other four websites appear along with my two.

  1. booltube.com
  2. filemarkets.com
  3. inhalebliss.com
  4. mypixingo.com

I think that the youGetSignal web app is broken, but I just wanted to ask you guys if there could be anything significant going on here? Of course running nslookup in my Mac Terminal reveals that these websites resolve to completely unrelated IP addresses.

Thanks,

~John

It is possible that these domains may have used your IP address in the past since once a droplet is destroyed it’s IP eventually is added back to the pool to be reassigned. The site you checked may simply by caching old results to provide as much information about a particular IP address as possible.
