Salt-Cloud for Fedora fails to set hostname properly (BUG)

Posted on June 10, 2014

On deployment, /etc/hostname gets set to “localhost” instead of the proper hostname value. This isn’t a problem for CentOS or Ubuntu, only Fedora (I’m testing 20). The value is definitely coming over since it properly set in /etc/sysconfig/network.

Just wanted to let you know, hopefully get this fixed.

Thanks for pointing that out! I’ll pass this along to someone on the engineering team.

This is a general issue with all Fedora images, as far as I can tell, and has nothing to do with Salt-Cloud.

The hostname is never set for any droplets created from Fedora images (19 and 20).
