Setting up A and MX records

Posted on June 14, 2015

Hi

I’m having trouble getting my head around A records, CNAME records and MX records. I want to set postfix email server on my vps too.

  1. Can I have two A records? A @ 128.199… A mail 128.199…

CNAME record is:

CNAME www cyclonewindowcleaning.com.au

MX records is:

MX 20 mail.cyclonewindowcleaning.com.au

What I’m really asking is, what is the typical set up for these three resource records?

David

Technically speaking you can certainly have multiple A records for multiple subdomains…

Make sure that A record is created at the DNS manager of the domain, so for example, if you point your domain (via registrant DNS records) to DO NS records, so adding new entry in DO DNS panel will definitely work…
