Aug 17 06:43:41 DIB-Web-Dev-Server apachectl[29649]: apache2: Syntax error on line 226 of /etc/apache2/apache2.conf: Could not open configuration file
Aug 17 06:43:41 DIB-Web-Dev-Server apachectl[29649]: Action 'start' failed.
Aug 17 06:43:41 DIB-Web-Dev-Server apachectl[29649]: The Apache error log may have more information.
Aug 17 06:43:41 DIB-Web-Dev-Server systemd[1]: apache2.service: Control process exited, code=exited status=1

Hi there @alanj,

As far as I can see from the output that you’ve shared, it looks like that the problem is on line 226 in /etc/apache2/apache2.conf.

I would recommend checking the /etc/apache2/apache2.conf file on line 226 for more information.

Feel free to share the line here as well so I could try to further advise you!

Regards, Bobby

Hello there,

As Bobby already mentioned the issue is a Syntax Error in the Apache config file. You need to edit the file and check this particular line and fix the problem. It might be a missing symbol/character or an extra one added.

I’ll also recommend check our series of tutorials under the How To Set Up Apache Virtual Hosts

Hope that this helps!
