Slow SSH on Home Network

Posted on February 24, 2014

I’m having issues connecting to my droplet via SSH using my home network.

I’m using OSX and the terminal to connect to the server. Often hangs - or when does connect it’s extremely slow.

However if I connect using my phone and an ssh client over 4G I get good speeds.

I read this could be a dns issue so I updated my dns to google - but still the same connection issues. Anyone got any ideas?

Found out this was a router issue. Replaced the router last night and works perfectly.

Is the connection handshake slow or is it the connection once completed that is slow?

Both. I often cannot even connect because it times out.
