Hi, I am at a loss after going through different tutorials/set-ups and checks. I have created a new Wordpress ubuntu droplet for a subdomain. The subdomain needs to send emails. I’m at a loss if this is a droplet issue or a website or cofig at Sendinblue.
I have:
- Installed SendinBlue plugin
- Installed WP Log Plugin
- Installed WP SMTP configured to Sendinblue.
On Sendinblue I have added the email to be verified. Then I have also set up/checked postfix in Ubuntu for emails. I have tested the postfix with 'echo “This is the body of the email” | mail -s “This is the subject line” my-email. and it sends the email.
However, it feels like a SMTP issue from the server.I’ve tested on the Wordpress site using WP MAIL Smtp to defualt to PHP and send a test, no test is sent. I have configured it to Sendinblue and no email is sent.
On top I have ensure the subdomain is authenticated on Sendinblues website as well.
I have allowed the ports to be open using:" sudo ufw allow 25/tcp Rule added Rule added (v6) "
I can see the test emails being created in WP log, but not sent.
What could I be missing or screwed up that’s stopping the emails being sent within the droplet?

I believe that port 25 is closed by default for new accounts. Instead, make sure to use port 587.

Hello all,
As per Bobby’s email it is recommended to use ports 465 or 587 instead of port 25 and also to use a SMTP plugin as well.
That way you will be able to specify an SMTP server with authentication which your emails would be going through. You could for example use Gmail’s SMTP settings. This would drastically increase the delivery rate of your emails as well compared to using plain PHP mail.
