WordPressDigitalOceanBuilding a SaaS

Dear All,

I need an advice from all of you on below:

We are a startup where we built an ERP which is powered by WordPress and as it is more focused on eStore Specialize ERP so it utilized wooCommerce.

We have around 30 accounts till now but does not have much load in any as we are a just startup, we are using liquid web with cloudflare as CDN, however in some specific day if they run any ADs they got a little load.

We are providing them as SaaS solution mean cost effective ERP solution, so we want to start with cost optimized server/VPS.

In this regard i would be greatful if you guys and advice me on following queries regarding wordpress/woocommerce server/VPS solution.

1- is digital ocean VPS is managed server?
2- Is this server have malware firewall/scan?
2- Is this server optimized for wordpress/woocommerce i.e caching enable / fpm / wordpress autoload in options optimized etc

3- We want to disable php default mail function only want to use smtp/imap, so does digital ocean provide this sort of management during migration.

4- Do they offer auto backup or migration service?

5- What would be the recommended package to start with and does it offer cpanel?

7- Can it auto scale when load comes? or how scaling can quickly perform?

Hi there,

I will try to cover all of your questions:

  • DigitalOcean offers only unmanaged servers.

  • DigitalOcean provides firewalls that you can attach to your servers. Regarding the malware scans, you could use Maldet for example.

  • You can use the 1-Click installation available on the Market place here:

https://marketplace.digitalocean.com/apps/openlitespeed-wordpress

  • As DigitalOcean offers only unmanaged servers, you will have root access to your server, and you will be able to configure it so that it matches your exact needs including disabling the PHP mail functionality.

  • You can enable backups for your server, this is supported by DigitalOcean. However, migrations are not a service provided by DigitalOcean.

  • For cPanel, I would suggest this 1-Click installation image here:

https://marketplace.digitalocean.com/apps/cpanel-whm

Note that the cPanel license is not included.

  • You can manually resize your Droplets whenever your traffic grows.

Hope that this helps!
Regards,
Bobby
