Unable to connect to my SFTP: Authentication Failed

Posted on March 27, 2020

I’m following the instructions here however I’m not able to connect to my droplet and I get the below error.

I have added my private key to FileZilla and my public key to my account on digital ocean. I also attempt to connect on port 22 and without a password. Yet I still get authentication failed. Any hints?

Status: Connecting to 64.227.33.251… Response: fzSftp started, protocol_version=9 Command: keyfile “/Users/christianmacedo/.ssh/id_rsa” Command: open “root@64.227.33.251” 22 Command: Pass: Error: Authentication failed. Error: Critical error: Could not connect to server

Sorted.

I booted into recovery mode and modified my password.

Once done I could get into the console and SFTP in.

Thanks.
