I installed OpenVpn following this guide: https://medium.com/@jmarhee/automating-deploying-a-personal-vpn-server-on-digitalocean-f585aca396cf
Everything works just fine. Allthough i need better response times.
I tried this as an alternative to nordvpn as they run their servers very thin and was conciderably worse than expressvpn. Expressvpn was playable though.
I did expect that running my own vpn server on digital ocean, would give at least same results as using express vpn servers. I do not need high download speeds, i need ok response speeds and something seems off.
I think it might be the setup, maybe i need to try a different vpn setup like algo or something. Any advice and experience is highly appreciated.

There is nothing inherent to the platform that would explain the slow responses you are seeing. Several commercial VPN providers host nodes on DO. Can you share some additional details on exactly what you are seeing so we can help narrow down whether this is a configuration, routing or other type of issue?
