Will I be able to access my server if i limit ssh IP, if my IP changes?

Posted on July 31, 2020

I was wandering, if i enable UFW firewall on ssh, and allow only my ip to pass, if my ip changes, is there any way to access droplet or will i be locked out of droplet for good?

Hi, @filipstrelec

Even if your IP address is changed you can still access the droplet using the console within your DigitalOcean’s account, meaning you can always access the droplet and allow your new IP address.

The Droplet console provides out-of-band access and is available regardless of your network settings. It emulates the access you would have if you were sitting down with a keyboard and monitor attached to the actual server. You can use this feature to log in and revert bad settings to regain normal access.

You can find more information about the droplet console here:

Hope that this helps! Regards, Alex
