Mostly leveraging a client-server model, the protocol is very mature and fairly ubiquitous across networked devices. In this guide, we will introduce you to some fundamental SNMP concepts and take a look at the protocol in broad strokes.

In this guide, we will install and configure the SNMP components on two Ubuntu 14.04 servers in order to demonstrate how to use SNMP to manipulate remote systems.
