I am using app platform to host a variety of apps to make up a web service. I like how I can create a bunch of resources to make up the app. However 1 or 2 of my resources use more memory, such as Elastic search, another uses less such as a worker. I tried to make one of my instances larger in the app.yaml and got the following error:“Instance sizes must be the same tier”.
Why do instances need to be the same size and why can I not have different sized instances?

Hi!
You can use different sizes for different components however they must belong to the same tier.
For example, the following is valid:
...
services:
- name: elastic-search
instance_size_slug: professional-l
workers:
- name: queue
instance_size_slug: professional-s
while this is not:
...
services:
- name: elastic-search
instance_size_slug: professional-l
workers:
- name: queue
instance_size_slug: basic-s
