Hello: I am confused about this billing and usage. I programmer is building a software for me and i keep getting different monthly bills. According to the invoice under (512mb) 1 hour = 0,01 under the (1GB) 672 hours $10.00. i know they have not spent 673 hours on this small project. What is that i need to be looking at? How do i keep the cost down. It drives in nuts when i sign up for something and then i get another price. Please explain where i need to be looking at. Cordially, Silvina

A 1GB server on DigitalOcean is $0.015/hr or $10/month, whichever is less. All servers are billed hourly, up until a monthly cap. I obviously don’t have the details of your contract, but remember that for a developer building a web site this is a fixed cost. They are not active working on the project for 673 hours, but the server that hosts it is still running. It’s more akin to rent than an hourly fee for service.
