Unfortunately, as far as I know, this isn’t something that can be done still.
It is currently one of the most popular user suggestions on the DigitalOcean Ideas board, you can vote for this feature at https://ideas.digitalocean.com/ideas/DO-I-2423
The advice from the previous question that you linked is still valid, if you need to download a backup of your files, you will need to use scp or similar for now.
