Can I take a snapshot of a droplet in one account and move it to another account and restore it?

Posted on December 9, 2020

I am doing some preliminary work for a company that does not yet have a D.O. account. After the company account is setup can I somehow transfer the droplet image that is under my account and restore it or whatever to their account? Take a snapshot or just move the droplet or …? Thanks

Yes, you can!

You can do a transfer request of a snapshot. See more https://www.digitalocean.com/docs/images/snapshots/how-to/change-owners/

Hi there,

Yes fully agree with what Simon said. One thing to add is that after restoring the Droplet you will have a new IP address.
