Changing from distribution to one-click app

I am asking this question because I do not treat the following as entirely disposable:

IP addresses assigned to an existing droplet
certificates issued by LetsEncrypt to a droplet

This begs the question “Should I treat the above as entirely disposable?”

If the answer to that question is “No”, then can I reuse an existing droplet that I created using a distribution, and instead install a one-click app to it. If so, how? (I know it is easy to do the opposite ).

Accepted Answer

Upon closer reading of HowTo:Rebuild I was able to use the following approach to solve this problem:

Create a new Droplet using the 1-Click App. (Use the same region and similar platform as the Droplet you wish to upgrade)
Login to the newly created Droplet and/or issue a “poweroff” command to stop it in its tracks
Once the newly created 1-Click App is powered off, create a snapshot of it. This creates a personal copy of the image in your account.
Any personal copy of a image can be used to rebuild any of your other Droplets that are compatible with its region and platform.
