Delete everything from digital ocean and host my site elsewhere.

Posted on September 30, 2018

I would like to host my site elsewhere and right now I just want to delete everything on digital ocean.

I have a few questions: how do I safely remove my custom domain from digital ocean? I want to use the domain elsewhere, and I do not know how to safely unlink it with my server.

I have local backup of everything on my site, so the content on it does not matter. After that what should I do? Just click destroy droplet???

Thanks in advanced.

To take care of that you would destroy all of your droplets.

Delete any snapshots that you have as well as an Spaces object storage buckets.

Then goto your domains section and delete the domain from there. Since you have it registered elsewhere just update your nameservers to point to the nameservers of your new DNS provider.

Then you can goto account settings and “delete” your account entirely as well, if you wish to go further.
