do-agent has stopped working, can anyone help me get it monitoring correctly?

DigitalOcean Getting Started Ubuntu 16.04

The digital ocean agent has been working correctly for sometime but recently I have veen receiving the the message "Not receiving metric data" when I look at the Graph section of my droplet.

My droplet has only a simple NodeJS site with an Nginx proxy and a single static site.

UFW is enabled with all outgoing allowed and 80, 443 and SSH incoming allowed.

  • Could the firewall be blocking the do-agent from reporting metrics?
  • Could the Nginx usage of 80 and 443 be interfering with the do-agent?

Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Thanks.

I raised a ticket:

Response as follows:

Our engineers are currently investigating a known issue with monitoring and will hopefully have this resolved shortly. We will update you in this ticket as soon as more information becomes available.

Please let us know if there is anything else we can help with in the meantime.

At least I know it's not my setup.

Are you like me, with the message "Not receiving metric data" BUT data in the graphs ? It feels like the only problem here is the message. :)

I am having the same problem, All my droplets are saying the same thing and not showing any data in the graphs past about 6 hours ago.

Also having the same problem. Maybe there's a service outage at DO or something...my last data is 6 hrs ago too.
EDIT: looks like I'm going to need monitoring for my monitoring...

Is there someone else having problems with this? I've started to get this issue. I've installed again, but still getting the message saying not receiving data...

  • Same here...

Not receiving metric data. Last working 1 hour ago

well, I've installed again the DO-agent for metrics and stilled not working. In the meantime, discovered that my droplet was running some issues since it was detected some memory spikes which was killing MySQL tasks. I guess that it was also killing do-agent.

I first have upgraded all the system. I've then restarted the server. After some time, I could see the monitoring working at DO website.

Still had issues with memory, not sure what is consuming the system resources. If anyone could help me to where to look to figure out which task is consuming memory I would be happy.

I'm working on Ubuntu 16.04 php7 MySQL 5.7 apache2 with WordPress 4.8

not sure if there is a WordPress plugin which is consuming the memory.

I've in the meantime resize the memory of the droplet and problems stopped. But I still want to understand where the problem is coming from. Thank you for any heads up.

Same error here, been going on for months, still got the error.
