I’m getting an error trying to open a console on Windows:
PS> pwsh -version
PowerShell 7.4.6
PS> doctl version
doctl version 1.120.0-release Git commit hash: 2ec5fba2
PS> doctl apps console 769fa75a-… id-…
Error: error getting terminal size: The handle is invalid.
Any help appreciated!

Hi Marc!
Sometimes running doctl
directly in Windows Command Prompt (cmd.exe
) or Windows Terminal (instead of PowerShell) resolves the issue. Have you by any chance tried that?
If the above still does not work, try running doctl
inside a WSL (Linux) environment or another Bash shell, which should handle terminal sizes more smoothly:
Install WSL if you haven’t already.
Run doctl
from the WSL terminal:
doctl apps console <app-id>
If the problem persists, you could report this as a bug on the doctl GitHub repository. Make sure to share the exact details about your environment and the error can help the DigitalOcean team address this.
