Hello there,
The domain name transfer process is different from DNS management and securing the site with SSL Certificate (having HTTPS for your domain name).
You can reach the domain’s registrar (the company where you’ve transferred the domain name) if there is an issue with the domain’s status.
If the domain name is already using DigitalOcean’s nameservers you can proceed with the HTTP to HTTPS redirection.
For Nginx you can check:

HI @LittleElectricBlueAnemone,
If you want to manage your DNS with DigitalOcean, it doesn’t matter of the domain status, you just need to add your domain to your control-panel and change the nameservers to DigitalOcean’s. More about that here:
Now, if you have any issues with the domain itself, it’s best to contact our Domain registrar (where you bought the domain name from). In there they should be able to assist you with any issues regarding the domain.
As for the https on your WordPress website, I can confirm it’s not related to your Domain status, you just need to point your A record to your Droplet and then install your certificate on the Droplet itself.
