I followed this tutorial and I got service down error while setting up the SSL Certificate: https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-secure-apache-with-let-s-encrypt-on-ubuntu-16-04
An unexpected error occurred: The server experienced an internal error. The service is down for maintenance or had an internal error. Check https://letsencrypt.status.io/ for more details.

The error message indicates that there were some problems with Let’s Encrypt servers, not with your setup.
Looking by the Let’s Encrypt Status History, today was a maintenance, so it could be that you tried to issue the certificate in that period and that Let’s Encrypt servers were down.
Try to set up it again. If you still have problems, report back, maybe we can help you to dig additional logs.
