I would like to make a conference focused VOIP service that can be utilised similar to IRC where the clients are native android and iOS apps. People, like with IRC, would be able to connect even with minimum registration. Perhaps as guests with simply one click.
I am thinking of using -all for the backend- Kazoo, kamailio, and freeswitch along with erlang, packer, docker, riak, apache cassandra, and postgresql. The idea is to have it easily scalable -even beyond cloud services such as digitalocean, if it can be used-, automated, and distributed.
Is digitalocean a good platform to start out to get this service out there?

If you’re going to be providing a service that will be used by customers I would strongly suggest you look at how they handled the latest outage in FRA1. Servers and storage inaccessible for almost 48 hours and nothing but “sorry for the inconvenience” messages for most of that time.
Digital Ocean platform is great and works very well for VoIP but their ability to deal with a crisis leads a lot to be desired.
