I’m new to DigitalOcean and this article is what drew me here. Is there an updated version of these steps using the v2 API?

The Ruby scripts referenced in that tutorial use the Droplet Kit v2 API client. If you’re referring to the /metadata/v1/ endpoints scattered throughout the tutorial, those refer to the local Droplet metadata endpoints, for which v1 is the correct version.
