Hi!
I need some help with the DigitalOcean service.
I will use this service for a Video Sharing service, but i’m facing some problems.
When the system ask me to create a Droplet, it ask for a Hostname, but i cannot understand that. So, the hostname is the “website name like www.mywebsite.com” that i already have registered? Sorry for asking that but i never use a VPS before.
Let’s imagine that i want to run Joomla or another CMS, it’s possible or i can just use WordPress?
Do you have a Firewall service?
Thanks and best regards,
Carlos

The hostname is simply what your droplet will be called. You can use whatever name you want, naming the droplet after the domain name of your site is a common practice.
Unlike shared hosting, you get full root access to your server. So you can install whatever software you want. We offer a WordPress one-click application with WordPress pre-installed, but you are free to install Joomla if that’s what to want to use.
We don’t have a firewall service, though all of our images have iptables installed. If you are using an Ubuntu or Debian server, I’d suggest looking into using UFW to manage your iptables firewall.
