Question

Python script to run Kubernates jobs doesn't work with cron - "No such file or directory: 'doctl'"

I have written a simple python script which creates new Kubernates jobs running on DO managed Kubernates.

It works fine when I run it manually, but when scheduled from cron (under the same user), I get an error begining “No such file or directory: ‘doctl’”

I’m using the downloaded Kube config from the DO Kubernates management.

Hi there,

I could suggest putting the full path to the doctl binary in your corn job.

You could get the path with the following command:

which doctl

Let me know how it goes. Regards, Bobby

It turns out the fix was to edit the kube config file and replace cmd: doctl with the full path to doctl.
