As the Spaces are object storages, I would suggest using a tool like s3cmd. Here’s how you could set it up:

And then once you have it configured, you could take a look at this article on how to use it:

As a side note, for backups, I would also recommend just enabling the droplet backups provided by DigitalOcean.

I realize this is an older post. I’ve been using rclone for rsync type activities with Spaces. Works with S3-compatible object stores and you can configure Spaces as an alternative provider.

Using tools like rclone or s3cmd will be more convinient to copy your data across. You can also use GUIs like CyberDuck or if you need to backup your data with one of our products called Snapshooter which helps you in dealing with Spaces backup:
