Why am I not receiving emails from my WP installation?

Posted on July 8, 2014

Hello guys,

I’ve recently installed a Wordpress multisite via the One-Click Ubuntu 14 droplet. Edited the config.php to make it compatible for a multisite.

Everything is working fine, domains are set up, but I am not receiving any emails from my WP installation. My email is correct both in Users and in Settings --> General.

When I try to delete a website on my network, I can’t because you need an e-mail to verify.

Anyone have a clue?

Thanks!

Have you checked your spam folder? Email should work out of the box on the WordPress one-click app. Though it’s quite possible that it will be flagged as spam.

Hello all,

What I could suggest here is using an SMTP plugin for your WordPress site.

That way you will be able to specify an SMTP server with authentication which your emails would be going through. You could for example use Gmail’s SMTP settings. This would drastically increase the delivery rate of your emails as well compared to using plain PHP mail.

I’ve been using this plugin for a while now and it works very well: Easy WP SMTP

Hope that this helps! Regards, Alex
