Will resizing disk space on a droplet without changing the IP be possible soon?

Posted on December 13, 2013

I know that I can resize using snapshot. But I read a lot of comments such as: ‘server in a`dam not available’, or users getting another IP.

For ram, there is already a resize functionality. Does this guarantee same IP? And is there functionality scheduled to have this same functionality for disk space?

For now, I am testing with a site, but will need to expand this soon. I do certainly not want to change the IP adress, since I am using FTP, virtualmin, etc.

That is a little bit unfair, you pay for the same plan but you will not get the Disk space that belongs to the plan

I resize from 512 mb ram to 1 GB ram, I pay 10 dollar but not get the 10GB disk extra that belongs to that plan.

Thanks!

@alax89: The fast resize option increases your RAM and CPU, but doesn’t increase the disk size. It is provided as an option for users who want to quickly scale up memory and processing power with extremely minimal down time. If you need to increase disk size as well, take a snapshot of the droplet and create a new one based on it:

https://www.digitalocean.com/community/articles/how-to-resize-droplets-using-snapshots
