Hello,
Does anyone know how or where to find the username and password that Digital Ocean uses as security for a new Wordpress install?
The following directions say that the instructions to find the password are in the .htaccess file and also the /root/WORDPRESS file. I use Filezilla and I am able to locate both files but there is nothing in the htaccess and the root Wordpress file will not open. Am I missing something?

You can type !ref in this text area to quickly search our full set of tutorials, documentation & marketplace offerings and insert the link!
After you connect to your FTP, go to SERVER and select FORCE SHOWING HIDDEN FILES. This should allow you to see the .htaccess file.
SSH into your droplet and you should see /root/WORDPRESS’s contents: How To Log Into Your Droplet with PuTTY (for windows users) | DigitalOcean.
and the root Wordpress file will not open
Can you post the exact error that you’re getting? What user are you connected as?
Hello there,
If you’ve enabled password authentication using htpasswd and you want to disable it, just ssh to the server and you can open the .htaccess file and remove the Auth lines for the protected directory.
Usually, when you password protect a directory you will have the following lines in the .htaccess file:
AuthName ""
AuthType Basic
AuthUserFile
Require valid-user
Additionally, you can reset the WordPress admin password using the Password reset from the /wp-admin or /wp-login.php page.
Regards, Alex
