Posted on August 18, 2025

Can I not perform : $rss_string = file_get_contents($rss_url); in digitalocean functions ? Is allow_url_fopen not open ?

Hi Anjanesh,

I don’t think allow_url_fopen is enabled in DigitalOcean Functions, so file_get_contents() on a URL likely won’t work there. The usual approach is to use something like curl or a library such as Guzzle to fetch remote content instead.

If you want to double check whether it’s supported or if there’s a workaround, it’s worth reaching out to DigitalOcean Support.
