How to transfer site from Statamic to Wordpress on Digital Ocean

Posted on January 11, 2023

I’m looking to transfer my website which is currently running on Statamic to Digital Ocean on a Wordpress droplet. Is there any guidance on how to make the conversion or should I build the droplet, install Wordpress and then find a plugin to import?

Hi there,

Indeed, setting up a new WprdPress Droplet and then using a migration plugin sounds like a good plan. A couple of options are WP All in One plugin or Duplicator:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/

Alternatively, if you have to move some of the data manually you can do that via ssh using scp or rsync. Another option is to use an FTP client like FileZilla:

https://docs.digitalocean.com/products/droplets/how-to/transfer-files/

Hope that this helps!

Best,

Bobby

Hello @essexit

I’ll also recommend using the Duplicator or the WP All-in-One plugins if you do not have experience with WordPress migrations. The plugins should handle the whole process and configure the site on your DigitalOcean droplet.

The other way will be to manually copy the files and database as mentioned by Bobby.
