Question

Installing OpenVPN - Error Step 2

I’m following the DO guide on setting up a OpenVPN server. Once I get to step two it ask that I run ./easyrsa init-pki. When I do that I get an error:

[./easyrsa: 3: ./vars: Syntax error: Unterminated quoted string]

Has anyone else run into this issue or have any ideas of how to resolve the error?

What does your vars file look like? If you’re following the Ubuntu 20.04 tutorial then it should only have these two lines:

set_var EASYRSA_ALGO "ec"
set_var EASYRSA_DIGEST "sha512"

Make sure to include the quotes, and also it might be worth checking that the quotes are ascii and not unicode characters?

e.g. you want " and not or characters.
