I am trying to setup my gavk.co.uk domain with the hashnode.com blogging platform. I have setup the nameservers to digitalocean fine and now I just need to do the following to setup hashnode on my domain

Head over to your DNS provider and add a CNAME record where the host name is gavk and the corresponding value is hashnode.network. We’ll automatically provision an SSL certificate for you when you visit your blog for the first time. If you are using something like Cloudflare, please bypass it for this domain.

When I create a CNAME with gavk with the value hashnode.network it doesn’t seem to map with the hashnode blog - even though I only typed in gavk in the CNAME record it appears on the dns record list page as gavk.gavk.co.uk - that doesn’t seem right any ideas what I’m doing wrong?

Hi there @zabs,

Do you want to point your gavk.co.uk domain to your Hashnode blog directly or do you want to have a subdomain name like blog.gavk.co.uk pointing to Hashnode instead?

If you want to have your root domain pointed to Hashnode, what you need to do is:

  • Go to your Hashnode account
  • Go to your Blog Dashboard
  • Then click on the Domain tab
  • In there add your domain name
  • This will provide you with an IP address, take note of that and go back to your DigitalOcean DNS zone
  • In there add an A record for your root domain name so that gavk.co.uk points to the IP address that Hashnode provided

After that it could take up to 24-48 hours for the DNS to propagate over the Globe.

Hope that this helps! Regards, Bobby
