Question

What will happen if I add a domain with static IP address

I already purchased a domain with a static IP address. If I add this domain and add A record to direct load balancer in the DO, how will happen? Can I use this domain in the ingress?

Hello,

Once you purchase a domain name you can fully manage your DNS and point it to any IP address via your DNS zone.

As you mentioned, in case that you need to point your domain to the Load Balancer’s IP address, then you need to go to your DNS zone and update the A record of your domain name to that IP address.

Usually, once you make the change, it could take up to 24/48 hours for the DNS cache to clear over the Globe before you could see the new changes.

Hope that this helps. Regards, Bobby
