How do I force app platform to detect a django app rather than a docker app?

Posted on February 5, 2023

My django project has a docker-compose.yml file for local development. When I start a deploy to the app platform - it detects a dockerfile project.

It still does it if I rename the docker file to something other than docker-compose.yml.

How do I tell app platform that this app is a django application?

Also I’ve created an app spec under .do/app.yaml to clearly dictate that this is a django app. With minimal changes to it. https://github.com/digitalocean/sample-django/blob/main/.do/app.yaml

Does the UI not look at the .do/app.yaml to populate the fields in the app creation form?

I think if you’re looking to closely specify an app spec - you’ll have to use doctl rather than the UI.
