I have an SQLite database file that’s generated when my Node app is deployed and started, so it exists on DO but not the repo (i.e., it’s not tracked).
On subsequent deployments, will this database file persist because only repo files are written to the DO App? Or will it be erased because the entire directory is rewritten?

App Platform apps are deployed inside containers which are ephemerical, everytime that a deploy occurs the last deployed instance and filesystem are destroyed.
Using an external database like PostgreSQL or MySQL would be an appropriate replacement for your SQLite DB.
